No, you need a minimum of two full days to see all of the city's attractions.

But the main attractions in central Yokohama can comfortably seen in a one-day visit.

where i should i go first then next til i've gone to the whole places in order not to waste any minute

I recommend to start inMinato Mirai, and walk via the Red Brick Houses and the Osanbashi Boat Pier to Yamashita Park, the to the Motomachi Shopping area (maybe the Yamate hills) and then into Chinatown for a dinner.

But it depends on your personal pace and interests. I think it is possible to spend a full day alone at Hakkeijima Sea Paradise:

Hi Lorrine 2009/7/5
Go to Minatomirai and Motomachi for shopping. Chuka-gai (chinatown) for lunch or dinner. But pleeeeaaaase.... go to Sankeien Garden, its very underestimated and beautiful - and to me, the best Yokohama has to offer.

Narita Apt to Yokohama with kids 2009/7/12
I'm flying to Narita from Sydney with 2 small children ver soon. It is our first trip to Japan and I'm a little worried on how we can get from Narita Airport to Yokohama. We arrive Narita around 6pm to me friends in Yokohama that unfortunately are unable to pick us up.
I would love to hear some tips and suggestions on how we can get to Yokohama the calmest and least stressful way for the kids. I would prefer not to be dragging a luggage and handcarry plus 2 kids with me on too many stairs or walking too far looking for our trains/buses. I rather not stop and drag luggages in and out of trains/buses to connect. What would be the best form of transport for passenger with 2small kids that does not want to make the journey too tiring and too long and with least hassle of connection between stops.
What would you suggest?
Cheers

direct train or bus 2009/7/12
Once you get on the direct train/bus from the airport train station or bus stop, all you need is just sit down on the seat and do whatever you like until your train/bus arrive at JR Yokohama station/YCAT bus stop.

NARITA Express(NEX): 4180yen
Aiport Rapid bound for Kurihama: 1890yen departing at 19:01
Airport Limo Bus: 3500yen

Thanks TS 2009/7/12
Glad to hear I don't have too many choices.
Would the Bus be more than 2hrs I wonder. Would there be a great difference in time travel between the Train and Bus do you think?
I may aswell take the Train then if it's direct to Yokohama.. Thanks heaps.. Great help.

RE: going to yokohama 2009/7/12
When I consider probability of crowdedness, N'EX sounds good to me, at least better than Airport Narita (Rapid until reaching Tokyo) which costs longer time and has fewer trains.
13 - 17 July are weekdays with evening rush hours, and 20 July is a national holiday; I guess children's summer vacation will begin on 18 July as to many schools around Tokyo.

JR-East and another company have stations of the same name in each of the two terminal buildings of the airport.
Check which terminal your flight is going to use.

As to N'EX:
Seats of N'EX trains require reservation and they are all non-smoking seats.
Tickets are available at a JR East Travel Service Center.
If the Center is already closed, find a ticket office (called "Midori-no-madoguchi") near the Center.
- JR East Travel Service Center
http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/travel_info/service_center/in...
A N'EX train may have two parts into which it is divided at Tokyo Sta. for different directions.
Your car of N'EX will be destined to Ofuna, not to Omiya, Ikebukuro or Takao.

As to JR fares and charges:
If your little child solely utilizes one N'EX seat, purchase kids' rate tickets separately for him/her (Fare: 940 yen, Charge: 1,140 or 1,240 yen).
Children under 1 are regarded as babies, and children of 1 - 6 in age who were born on 2 April 2003 or later are regarded as infants until 31 March 2010.
One or two babies or infants accompanied by one adult are free from JR fares and charges except when a baby or an infant solely utilizes one reservation seat or bed.

As to Suica & N'EX package for adults:
To an adult holding a foreign nationality, Suica & N'EX package is available at 3,500 yen
(1,500 yen for N'EX, 500 yen for deposit on the Suica card and 1,500 yen for Suica e-money).
If you find a KIOSK or a convenience store NEWDAYS open in the airport or in Yokohama Sta.,
maybe you can buy something for your children with the Suica card using e-money.
Of course it's OK to leave the Suica card until your next trip in the near future.

Timetables:
- Narita Express 44
18:48 : Narita Airport
18:52 : Airport Terminal 2
20:23 : Yokohama
- Narita Express 48
19:45 : Narita Airport
19:49 : Airport Terminal 2
21:24 : Yokohama
- Narita Express 50
20:44 : Narita Airport
20:46 : Airport Terminal 2
22:19 : Yokohama

Spend a night 2009/7/13
Lorrine,
I would give about one and a half hours to go through the customs and security. If you are arriving at Narita at 6pm, your children (and you) will be exhausted by the time you get through with them. If I were traveling with two small children, I would take a room in a hotel at/near the airport and start fresh the next day, whatever the itinerary may be. Just a thought...

TS, YP and Omotenashi 2009/7/21
Thank you for your help and suggestions. I have just heard some bad news and will no longer need to go to YOKOHAMA. I will now go straight to Hilton Tokyo Bay-Disneyland. Any suggestion with that? Like before, I rather not walk too far with luggages and 2kids. The flight from sydney arrives at 7pm. Staying at Narita Apt is not an option.
Greatly appreciated.

OPSS.. i just realised I taken over Lorreine question/Thread. Sorry Lorreine...How to I start my own anyways? Don't want to loose TS, YP and Omotenashi comments.

Thanks heaps
Rachelle-Sydney

NRT aft 7 pm then Disney official hotel 2009/7/22
: How to I start my own anyways?

You can make a thread for the new topic on Hilton Tokyo Bay hotel and Tokyo Disney Resort.
http://www.japan-guide.com/forum/quenew.html

It seems that airport limousine buses to Tokyo Disney Resort are not available in the late hours when you'll become free to travel.

There are limousine buses (via Makuhari bay area) scheduled to leave from an airport bus stop at 20:30 / 20:35 and 21:40 / 21:45, and to drop by a bus stop near Kaihimmakuhari (pronounced like "Kai-hint-Mac-Harry") Sta. of JR-East.
http://www.keiseibus.co.jp/pc/kousoku/pdf/day/nrt10_en....

I hope your bus will not be caught in a jam.
This is not a way I can recommend foreign first-time Japan travelers as an easy one, but sorry I don't conceive of a better way which will meet your requirements.

Airport Terminal 2 or 1 Bus Stop
| Limousine bus via Makuhari bay area;
| Fare: 1,100 yen per adult, 550 yen per kid;
| A little child solely taking a seat is required 550 yen.
Kaihimmakuhari Sta. Bus Stop
| Walk: Find the station with JR logo.
Kaihimmakuhari Sta. (of JR-East)
| Local (about 20 min.) or Rapid (about 15 min.) train destined to Tokyo;
| Fare: 290 yen per adult, 140 yen per kid #.
Maihama Sta. (of JR-East): South Gate
# One or two little children (roughly under 6) accompanied by one adult are free from the fare.

Passing through South Gate and advancing left, you will find Resort Gateway Sta. on Disney Resort Line.
http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdr/english/plan/tra...
It seems that the last train to Bayside Sta. is scheduled to leave at 23:05 on weekdays and at 23:08 on other days.
Resort Gateway Sta.
| Fare: 250 yen per adult, 130 yen per kid #.
Bayside Sta.
# One or two little children (roughly under 6) accompanied by one adult are free from the fare.

A taxi stand is on the right wing of a bus & taxi terminal, which will be found after passing though South Gate and walking straight for a little.
