Disembarkation card question

Dear visitor, if you know the answer to this question,
please post it. Thank you!

Disembarkation card question 2009/7/5
I'll be visiting my friend in Japan later this year. On the disembarkation card, I notice that there is a checkmark for "Visiting Relatives." As far as Japanese immigration is concerned, is a friend considered a "relative?" Or, should I check "others" and write-in "Visiting Friends"

How long will you stay? 2009/7/5
And isn't it holiday for you?
I guess you want the temporary visitor stamp, or do you have anyhting else in you mind?

"Relative" is usually universally defined as "family member" . Friend would be friends/acquaintances.

re: 2009/7/6
@Lisa:
I'll only be there 2 weeks, so I'll be traveling visa-free.

Re: Disembarkation card question 2009/7/6
Friends are not relatives, I would just check the 'Tourism' box; why complicate things more than you need to: Anything that gives grounds to the immigration officers to believe that you might overstay your visa sounds like a bad idea; besides you're not visiting relatives. :-)

My friend said "visiting friends" and never had a problem.

A "temporary visit" or "temporary visitor" isn't regulated to just "tourism".
