Center the map on the area where you want to stay; then in the left side, click on the pulldown menu and select hotels. Click search and voila!! A starting point. Even nicer for autumn colours, but AVOID the weekends if you dont like crowds. If you like Onsen you really should have a night in Nyuto Onsen at one of the tiny old fashioned resorts - they are lovely. The drive from Towada south to Tazawa ko is nice, and really rural. Tazawa and Kakunodate then work well together. Also lots of hiking options. A hire car is a real bonus for exploring this area. Some bits can be done by train/bus, but a car will help you see much much more. Well done for getting off the beaten track - enjoy Tohoku! by Top Tonkatsu rate this post as useful
