Hakone travel 2009/8/12
Hakone
Hi there,
My husband and I are planning to visit Hokone from Kyoto on Nov27th. We will take JR train to Odawara and we will stay at Fukuzumiro Ryokan, we've been informed that we have to catch a Tozan(Odawara-Hakonemachi line)bus to get to the hotel. Can anyone help me with these questions please:
- Where to get the bus timetable in English?
- How Long does it takes from Odawara to Tonosawa station?
- How often the bus runs?
- Is there anything we should not be missed in Hakone?
- Our Ryokan has it own onsen, should we try to go to other public onsens for more experiences? and recommendation?

Thank you..Ruji

From Odawara, you can take the bus and it will be just a 15-minute ride to Tonosawa.
OR, from Odawara, you can take Hakone Tozan Rail up to Hakone Yumoto. From there it's either (1) a 10-minute walk, or (2) a 3-minute bus ride to Tonosawa (then one minute walk from the bus stop to the ryokan).

For attractions in Hakone, I suggest the Hakone round course :)

Thank you AK, we plan to be in Hakone for 2 nights. Do you think it is too muuch time there? I saw a lot of posts recommended only for 1 nights. Should I stay one more day longer in Kyoto?

Rujirake,
It's a matter of personal preference and priorities - if you arrive late in the afternoon on day 1, maybe for the first evening you want to relax from all the earlier traveling, then you do the whole Hakone round course the next day, then you might say you've seen enough, OR maybe you might want to try another onsen - Yunessun comes to mind - to stretch your legs a bit *if* you do some trail walking and things like that. And if you start looking around at different museums/art museums, you have plenty to fill the days as well....

But I know that Kyoto has PLENTY of things to see and places to go... :)
