JR night train 2009/8/14
ok.so i have decided to take a night train down to osaka via sunrise seto/izumo with my JR pass. However, i am still confused as to how can i reserve seats online.or do i have to do it when i arrive in JP.

any low cost hotels or ryoukan to recommend for kyoto/osaka/nara?

Also, would free maps of tokyo be available at the airport or anywhere?

thanks. (:

You can only do it after you arrive. If you want the night train the immediate night, you might be disappointed as bookings might be full. So, make contingency plan like taking KITAKUNI from Niigata.

Jr night train 2009/8/14
We stayed in business hotel Shin'osaka. It was really cheap but still nice and clean, and they had a free breakfast. http://hso.hotwire.jp/event_e.html

Nobi Nobi is the best! 2009/8/18
You have to reserve night trains in Japan esp. if you have a JR Pass.

I took the night train to Takamatsu and it was really a great experience. The nobi nobi have heaters--I felt so good, like a good heated massage while the train is rolling by.

I found it very clean and relaxing. I wish to take it again in the future.

I can't get enough of the nobi nobi trains!
