Thank you! jr east pass nagano matsumoto nakasendo 2009/8/17 Hi I wanted to know how far the JR east pass will go to get us to nagiso/nakatsugawa in order to walk the nakasendo route between magome and Tsumago? Planning to depart tokyo to visit nagano, via shinkansen, then to matsumoto, then to the nakasendo towns. Afterwards return to matsumoto and go back to tokyo on the chuo line from there. Will the part between matusmoto and the nakasendo towns be additional cost? plan to buy the 3 day special JR east pass, it seems a bargain. As far as Shiojiri. From there it is another 100 minutes and 1280 yen by local train. Will the part between matusmoto and the nakasendo towns be additional cost? The part between Shiojiri and the Nakasendo Towns will cost additionally. by Uji rate this post as useful anouther option 2009/8/24 If you stop in Nagiso you shouldn't have any problem because it is still in Nagano. You can take the bus from Nagiso to Tsumago and Magome. The boarder of Gifu and Nagano is between Magome and Tsumago. The JR-East pass covers Nagano but not Gifu.
