Kawaguchiko and FujiQ in a day 2009/9/9
Fujigoko
Hi, I am planning to make a trip to Kawaguchiko and FujiQ Highland from Shinjuku this November. If i take the earliest bus and reach Kawaguchiko at 9am, is it possible to cover some areas of Lake Kawaguchiko (Mt Tenjo, Music forest) + FujiQ highland in one day? I'm hoping to return to Shinjuku in the evening, but i heard autumn season sun sets early at ard 4.30pm. Is 9am to 4.30pm enough time to cover the above-mentioned areas? Thanks!

Yes. It just means that you will have less time in FujiQ Highland. How much time to spend at FujiQ Highland is a personal matter. Some are content with just a few hours, others will stay the whole day.

Fuji Express to Kawaguchiko 2009/9/21
From Otsuki to Kawaguchiko, the only train service is Fuji Express which is not covered by JR pass. Besides buying the ticket, is it necessary to pay extra for reservation?
Thanks.

If you use a local train, no reservation is necessary or possible. If you use a limited express train, you have to pay an express supplement of around 300-500 yen.

Kawaguchiko 2009/9/22
Hi Uji,
I noted there are 2 types of Fuji Exp; namely the local and express. So if I take the local type, I don't need to reserve a seat.

BTW, do you know how to get to the place where I can take a cruise on Lake Kawaguchi from Kawaguchiko train station?

Thanks.

It is a 15 minute walk from the station. Alternatively you could take the Kawaguchiko Retro Bus:

Kawaguchiko View Coupon 2009/10/3
Hi,
The return cable car ride at Kawaguchiko costs 700 JPY. The 30 min cruise on this lake costs 900 JPY.
There is a discount if one buys the above called Kawaguchiko View Coupon.
See
http://www.mtfuji-welcomecard.jp/english/transport/transp05.html#05

Anybody knows if I can buy this coupon and use the cruise on day 1 but cable car ride on day 2?

Thanks.

fuji q 2009/10/4
I would be a little worried about your timing.
ive been to fuji q a few times, it is awesome and well worth the visit but queueing times can be a problem. even if its only a relatively busy day you can be queueing over 2 hours for the major attractions. (and theyre the only ones worth doing).
work out what time you will get there and then maybe work out 2 hours for each ride. so if you get there at 1.00 you may only get to do 2 rides before 5.00. (and as i recall the place shuts at 5.30)

Hi flood,
Thanks for sharing.

As mentioned, I have nobody to enquire if this Kawaguchiko View coupon can be used over 2 days.

I will arrive Kawaguchiko around 2pm and is a Friday. So I plan to do either the cable car ride OR the cruise.

Then the next day which is a Saturday, I will do the other before leaving Kawaguchiko around noon.

Anybody reads Japanese, please help me to find any email address in

http://www.mtfuji-welcomecard.jp/english/transport/transp05.html#05

where I can make my enquiry?

Thanks.

fuji q 2009/10/5
hiya,
I'm
not sure what youre looking for in regards fuji q but if you arrive at 2pm on friday and are intending to leave by noon on the next day then i dont think you have much chance of enjoying fuji q highlands.

Hi flood,
I know I have very limited time in Kawaguchiko.
I plan to do only a 30 min cruise on the lake and a cable car ride to mt Tenjo. After these, I should still be able to have some time left walking around the lake. My only concern is if the sun sets around 3pm during mid Dec.
Thanks.
