I'm holding a JR Pass to take ''Hamanasu'' train from Sapporo to Aomori,what I know is I have to pay extra fee 1260yen and 510 yen Recycled carpet seat?Does anyone know what is Recycled carpet seat? by TY (guest)   Hamanasu 2009/9/18 TY, Don't know where you picked up that "recycled carpet" mistranslation, but the basics about the Hamanasu train are given on this site... http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2356.html The "Nobi nobi carpet car" means a carpeted floor on which you can sleep. Both this and the regular seating cars are free of charge with the Japan Rail Pass. (Sleeping berths are not free with the Japan Rail Pass). As you are supposed to remove your shoes first, the carpet floor is likely to be just as clean as the seats or sleeping berths.
