FujiKyu Line 2009/10/4
Fujigoko
Hello,
I use hyperdia to find the train schedule.

On 18 Dec 2009, there are 2 types of the train services that runs from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko, namely the Fuji Exp and Fujisan Ltd Exp.

I know we have to pay extra for Fujisan Ltd Exp and thus I limit my choices to Fuji Exp which charges 1110 JPY.

At 1307hr, the fare for Fuji Exp19 is 1110 JPY.

But at 1335hr, the train service is still Fuji Exp but there is an additional fee called Order Ticket of 200 JPY.

What is this Order Ticket fee about?

Thanks.

The 13:07 departure is a regular train, but the 13:35 departure is a little bit special, so called "Fuji Tozan Densha" with a special set of cars. The seats in the train's red car are reserved and cost an additional 200 yen, but there are also unreserved seats in the train's blue car, which do not require a supplement, i.e. they can be used for just 1110 yen. Hyperdia is doing a bad job by showing that "order ticket" even when the"Unreserved Fare" option is selected.

Hi Uji,
This Order ticket appears quite "random" and it also appears from Kawaguchiko to Otsuki.
For the normal Fuji Exp train19 ie departs at 1308hr, are all the seats unreserved? Does this mean if the train is crowded, I have to stand throughout the journey?
Thanks.

Of course, it is not random. It always appears when it is not a regular train but a "Fuji Tozan" train. The same explanation applies as above.

The following page shows train departures from Otsuki:
http://www.fujikyu-railway.jp/forms/info/info.aspx?info_id=13108

Grey = regular train (no supplement)
Red = Fujisan Limited Express (supplement mandatory)
Brown = "Fuji Tozan Densha" (Optional 200 yen supplement for reserved seating)
Green = Thomas train (no supplement)

Hi Uji,
Thanks so much for pointing out the differences. With the tables, I should be able to plan to take only the GREY trains.
May I ask for these trains, are all the seats unreserved? If the train is crowded, does this mean we have to stand all the way?
Many thanks.

Yes, all seats on the regular trains and Thomas trains are unreserved. And half of the seats on the "Fuji Tozan" trains are unreserved.

If the train is crowded, does this mean we have to stand all the way?

Yes, it is possible that on crowded days not everybody finds a seat. But it is very unlikely that trains will be crowded on a weekday at 1pm.

Hi Uji,
May I ask what is the difference between the Grey and Green Thomas train?
Thanks.

In addition to the already explained differences, they have different train sets.

Fuji Tozan train (colored grey on the timetable):

Thomas train (colored green on the timetable):

Hi Uji,
Thanks so much for your advice.
So the Thomas train is really that cartoon Thomas The Train. With this info, I will try to take this special train as I am sure my child would like it very much.
Thanks a lot again.
