I intend to buy a 7days JR pass & only start using on the 2nd day onwards of my trip. I wonder can i make a train reservation a day in advance before i start activate my JR pass? by cherrich   ... 2009/10/5 You can make reservations after exchanging the voucher for the actual pass and only for the period of validity of the pass. So, for example, if you arrive in Japan on December 1, you can exchange your voucher to the actual pass on arrival and set the starting date to December 5. Then, you can make reservations for dates that fall into the period of validity, e.g. December 5. by Uji rate this post as useful Train reservation 2009/10/7 Yes, like what Uji says. For my prievious trip, we exhange our voucher for the actual pass and indicate the date we want to start travelling with the pass. This is done at the JR Pass Exchange office and then walk over to the JR Train booking office to make all our train reservations (need to present the actual JR Pass). It would be helpful to write down on paper all the train journeys u want to make reservations. Indicate start & end destinations, date & time of journey. by CYC (guest) rate this post as useful
