Tokyo Narezushi 2009/10/7 05:24
I am looking for a place to try eating narezushi. For those that might not know, it is fish fermented with rice. I guess you could say it's fermented sushi, almost. Has anyone had this in Tokyo? Thanks

a bar and some shops 2009/10/10 14:13
Because of its flavor, narezushi is not in great demand, but I could find a bar serves narezushi through personal blogs.

"KAPPA"
3-14-20 Takaban, Meguro-ku, Tokyo.
It's near the GakugeiDaigaku station on the Toyoko line, about 10 minutes from Shibuya.
According to these blogs, It's a small bar with several seats. You can take out narezushi, but sometimes it may run out if you are unlucky.

More easy way is to buy it at shops.
You can buy it on prefectural indigenous product shops. Two shops as follows are in a same building, near Yurakucho station on JR line.

"Yume Plaza Shiga"
Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan bldg. 2F, 2-10-1 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
9:15-18:00
phone:
03-5220-0231
Closed at Sat, Sun, holiday, year-end and New Year holidays.
You can get "funazushi", typical narezushi made from crucian at 1.260 yen.

"Wakayama Kishukan"
Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan bldg. 1F, 2-10-1 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
10:00-19:00(17:00 at Sun. and holiday)
Closed at year-end and New Year holidays.
"sanma sugata zushi", narezushi of brevoort is served in a limited quantity.
