Could you please let me know if i can take Shinkansen from Tokyo to Takayama with out going to Nagano. Thank you. by wildc   Tokyo to Takayama 2009/10/8 Could you please let me know if i can take Shinkansen from Tokyo to Takayama with out going to Nagano No, there are no direct shinkansen from Tokyo to Takayama. Travel would involve a shinkansen to Nagoya where you can take a limited express train to Takayama. The total trip takes about 4 hours.
