The illumination in Shirakawa-go in 2010 2009/10/12 Shirakawa Has anyone got the idea exactly the date for the illumination of the gassho-zukuri farmhouses in Shirakawa-go, Japan in 2010 ? The illumination only takes place for 7 days each year. I know it is usually some where in January or February but I really need to know the exact date, so that I can make a room reservation in one of the minshuku(home stay hotel) in the village of Shirakawa-go. But in winter time, the road up the hill may be closed to car (indicated by the dotted line on the Japanese map), so I am not sure whether the shuttle service will be suspended or not. In the English map, the lookout is just beneath point 64 on the left.
