Kyoto sightseeing card 2009/10/12 Kyoto City Hi everyone, When in Kyoto, I plan to visit Kinkakuji (subway from Kyoto Station, then bus to Kinkakuji-michi bus stop), Nishiki Ichiba ( from Kinkakuji, by bus to Kitaoji Station, then subway to Shijo Station) and Kiyomizudera (Shijo Station back to Kyoto Station, then bus to Gojozaka bus stop). Is it worth paying 1200 yen for a one day pass? Unlike Tokyo where I could figure out using Hyperdia the cost of transportation, I have no idea of the fare in Kyoto. Coz' you can switch to subway or bus any time and also if you want to travel to more places, you can do so without additional cost. PLUS it would help if you got off at the wrong bus stop and need to take the bus again! =) Enjoy Kyoto! by Sab (guest) rate this post as useful Bus pass works well 2009/10/18 I was in Kyoto for a few days and I found the 500 yen bus pass worked fine for me. My accomodation was not especially near a subway station but was very close to a bus stop, and I found it easy to get a bus either directly where I wanted. The only down side is that bus travel is not quick as there always seem to be lots of red traffic lights. Lots of the publicity, e.g. the Bus Navi information leaflet/map, fails to mention that you can buy these cards from the bus driver - they imply you have to go to the Kyoto station terminus or an information office. However, I bought mine on board each time with no problem. by ermintrude75 rate this post as useful
