What JR Pass is useable for Cassiopeia? 2009/10/15 I have a group of 15 family and friends planning for a holiday in Japan. We would like to experience both the SINKANSEN and the CASSIOPEIA trains. What is the best economical options to buy these tickets? Will a JR pass be useful for both? Can we pay for the difference in prices when taking the CASSIOPEIA? Thank you very much by David Tan CC (guest)   ... 2009/10/15 The Japan Rail Pass (or any other pass) does not fully cover the Cassiopeia as explained below: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2356.html Furthermore, for a group of 15, it will be difficult to make reservations. So, I recommend to do it through a travel agents that offers packages that include the Cassiopeia ride. We went on the Cassiopeia last year and booked though Inside Japan Tours. They are UK based, but can book a whole package for Japan, incl Cass tickets. Mite be useful for a big group like yours.
