Ghibli Museum enjoyable for adults? 2009/10/21
Tokyo
Hello. I am 25 and I love the works of Miyazaki. Princess Mononoke, Sprited Away, Moving Castle etc.

I was wondering is the Ghibli Museum something that I would actually enjoy? Or is it more geared toward children?

I would think the Ghibli Museum would be geared toward adults just as much as children. Can anyone tell me what its like? I have seen the links etc. I wanna know a personal point of view. Thanks!

I went with my family a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed. The family consists of a 23 year old, a 25 year old son and his 24 year old wife, my wife (can't divulge age), myself (near senior citizenship), and my father-in-law (80). We all had a good time. Just don't go at 4:00 PM, as it puts a crimp in your time there. I will definitely go back again.

We loved the place 2009/10/21
We went there last autumn. It's a small nice cozy place set in a quiet neighborhood (next to a park). As we missed the bus, we walked to the museum and the walk itself was very peaceful and pretty with autumn leaves.

In the museum, there's a gallery displaying artworks of some of productions and an area where you can see how Miyazaki and his team work. From his work desk, one can even see where he got some of his ideas from. There's also a short movie for visitors and a nice little cafe to relax and absorb the tranquility of the place.

Yes if you are a fan 2009/10/22
I'm above 25 and a huge fan of studio ghibli's work. It was like a dream come true when I went there. I loved that first room that display different animation. The short animated feature was a delight, pity they only allow you in once though. I went crazy in the souvenir shops. :p
I have friends of my age (both males/females) who also loved that place but some felt the place is way too small. Well you shouldn't expect too much at a place that only charge you 1000 yen entrance fee. But it is the little details that is in the museum which makes it delightful. e.g. A ticket which is a 35mm film frames from one of Ghibli's movies

I would recommend walking to the museum instead of taking the bus. It is not a long walk and the surroundings are very pleasant. On the way, you will see totoro signs with the distance left to the museum.

I've been there twice and wouldnt mind going there again. =^.^=

If you enjoy the films, go!
It's a wonderful museum.
We were a couple going, 29 and 34 years old, no kids. And we loved the place.

Go there! 2009/10/22
Loved it! Totally magical place! I even went alone (as a 25 year old) and thought it was awesome! If you can, walk from the station to the museum - there are little treats to be spotted along the way!
