Koyasan lodging 2009/10/29
Koyasan
Hello. Could someone who has stayed in one of the Koyasan temples, please give me a recommendation of where to stay? This question was already asked in August, but no one seemed to give any specific answers.

My price range is 10000-30000 yen. I am looking for the best option for my money. I am looking for beauty and amenities. Thanks in advance!

Shojoshin-in 2009/10/30
Konnichi-wa!

My friend and I stayed at the Shojoshin-in back May. We had the Hanare (private residence) to ourselves and it was fantastic! We paid 15,000 yen each and I thought it was really worth it. The good thing about this temple is that it is very close to Oku-no-in and it is great to visit in the evening.

I agree that Shojoshin-in is great. I have stayed there twice. The food is also very good. See

Thanks for your responses. Does a hanare have a private bath/toilet?

smoking rooms only 2009/11/2
I did some research on Kayosan a year ago, but could not find a non-smoking room. If you require a non-smoking room, make sure you ask. Sometimes they say non-smoking room but you can tell it is a smoking room bec. of the ashtray, smoke smelling bedding etc. My nose bled profusely due to the stinking smoke odor. Japanese cigarettes are stronger than N. American smokes.
