in the early of February,,, I have one day free at Sendai and I don't know where i should go between Matsushima and Zao mountain. Is it possible if I go to Matsushima in the morning and to Zao mountain in the evening? I will leave Sendai about 7.00 pm to Sapporo. Is there any interesting place around Sendai? Thank you very much for your comment.

I was just at Yamadera and I thought it looked very picturesque surrounded by snow. It's also less than an hour from Sendai.
It was a little hard to climb up the snowy steps though.

What do you like better; the sea or the snow. Yamadera was mentioned and you could make it a stop on the way out. There is a train an hour so it can be done. Seafood was mentioned and you will get plenty in Hokkaido. You will also get plenty of snow. Yamadera and Zao would be a big day out, Matsushima would be far more relaxed and easier on the nerves in terms of getting back on time. Even in Japan the trains do sometimes suffer the effects of weather. It would be very easy to make an early start and do Yamadera and Matsushima without taking any risks or pushing yourself too hard. Does this help ? Yamadera http://outnabout.fotopic.net/p62855204.htmlMatsushima http://outnabout.fotopic.net/p62551475.htmlZao http://outnabout.fotopic.net/p62584283.html
