Fastest/cheapest way Nikko - Matsumoto

HI,
I found a trainride of about 4 hours on hyperdia (12250 fare)
nikko - UTSUNOMIYA - OMIYA(SAITAMA) - NAGANO - matsumoto
Are there quicker and maybe cheaper ways of doing this route

That is the quickest route. But there are a lot of much cheaper routes.
Not that much slower, but somewhat cheaper is taking the shinkansen or direct limited express into Tokyo and then the Azusa limited express from Shinjuku to Matsumoto.
By local train and highway bus via Tokyo it can be around 5000 yen, but it is much slower.
