Kansai Thru Pass

Hi,

Can anyone please advise if my itinerary is best to purchase the Kansai Thru Pass

Airport to Hotel Villa Fontaine
Osaka to Kyoto by JR (can the pass be use?)
3 days at Kyoto & Arashiyama
3 days at Osaka with 1 day trip to Nara

JR trains are not covered by the Kansai Thru Pass.

Without knowing exactly where you will be traveling in Osaka and Kyoto, it is impossible to say if you will save money with the pass, but I would think that you would be better off with a subway pass in Osaka and a bus pass plus some private railways in Kyoto. then use single fares between Osaka, Kyoto and Nara.

Usually the pass does not pay off if you just travel around Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. But as RobBeer mentioned, it depends on the exact itinerary.
