Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine 2010/3/9 09:11
Hi

If anyone, please can help us.

Were planning to take Takeyama-Kurobe Alpine route on the 17th of April from Toyama (arriving on the 16th of April) to Shinano-omachi, then stay in Matsumoto.

1.Can we buy the ticket one day in advance at Dentetsu Toyama station?
2.Wed like to send our luggage & pick it up at the Shinano-omachi Station. What time would be the latest we can pick up the luggage at the station (Shinano-omachi) on Saturday?
3.Which is the better part of the route for sightseeing: Tateyama to Midagahara OR Ogizawa EMurodo?
4.If the entire route has not yet opened due to bad weather, what would you recommend for us to do as we cant go all the way to Shinano-omachi?
5.We read from the travel book that we can stop in Midagahara & walk to Tateyama (non active) crater. Is this doable in April?

Thanking you so very much in advance.

I am not sure. But there is no need for it.

We d like to send our luggage & pick it up at the Shinano-omachi Station. What time would be the latest we can pick up the luggage at the station (Shinano-omachi) on Saturday?

Luggage has to be dropped off at Toyama Station by 9:30am, and can eb picked up at the "Alpen Roman Kan" next to Shinano-Omachi Station between 15:00 and 18:30.

Which is the better part of the route for sightseeing: Tateyama to Midagahara OR Ogizawa EMurodo?

Murodo to Kurobe Dam is the highlight, in my opinion, including Murodo and Kurobe Dam.

If the entire route has not yet opened due to bad weather, what would you recommend for us to do as we cant go all the way to Shinano-omachi?

Then you would have to travel via a different route to Matsumoto. The fastest way is usually by JR train via Naoetsu.

We read from the travel book that we can stop in Midagahara & walk to Tateyama (non active) crater. Is this doable in April?

No. All the hiking trails are covered under a very thick layer of snow in April.

Yes, there is no need to buy the ticket in advance. We stop at Midagahara station to enjoy the snow scenery, which was awesome. Also we stayed overnight at Murodo which is covered with thick snow during this period, very beautiful. All the hiking trails are covered with snow (some areas below the knee) so not quite possible to walk from station to station.

Hi Uji & CYC

Thank you very much indeed. Much appreciated.
We love snow & hopefully we'll enjoy it as much as you did.
