I was planning to go for cherry blossom viewing in Sankein Garden, Yokohama with some friends. We want to have a picnic there, with home-cooked food, some games and enjoy relaxing in garden. I was just wondering if the place is good enough for picnic and if we are even allowed to carry eatables with us inside. Please suggest. Thanks a lot.

It is allowed to bring in your food, but you are asked to carry back your own garbage. It is not the ideal place for a picnic as there are no big lawns to sit down. But there are some seating areas. Neither is it a good place for games because it is a traditional landscape garden more than a park. Nearby Negishi Forest Park, though, is excellent for picnics and games: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3207.html

Thanks a lot for your reply. Negishi park sounds a good option. We will have picnic at Negishi park and then move to Sankeien for seeing sakura and its landscape beauty.
