Transport for 8 day itineary 2010/4/29 02:08
Hi Everyone,
Will be visiting tokyo/Kyoto in June 11 for 9d/8nites.
My itineary is as follows and would like some advice regarding transport arrangement for Tokyo & Kyoto.

Day 1
Arrive Narita @ 6.45am & Transfer to Tokyo for 1 night
Day 2-4
Take Japanican's Shinkansen package to Kyoto 3d2n (incl. Kyoto free pass & hotel stay) 26,000 yen
Day 5
Visit Hakone using Odayku Hakone free pass 5,000 yen
Day 6
Disney Land
Day 7-8
Explore Tokyo

Based on the above programme, would like the kind advice of:-

a. Is JR Pass worthwhile?

b. For transfer from Narita, should i consider the Suica+NEX (one way) package which is 3500 yen
or
Skyliner (one way) + Tokyo Metro (2 day open) at 2480 yen
or
limousine (2way) + metro (2 day) at 6000 yen?

c. Which would be the best freepass for tokyo? Metro Freepass or Toei or Suica?

d. Is 3d2n in Kyoto sufficient or 2d1n is better?

Many thanks in advance to your help and opinions!

Is JR Pass worthwhile?

Certainly not, as the Japanican package is covering your only long-distance trip.

It depends on the location of your hotel, but note that the Skyliner package was discontinued this spring.

Which would be the best freepass for tokyo? Metro Freepass or Toei or Suica?

Day passes tend not to pay off in Tokyo. Therefore, I recommend Suica, which is a prepaid card rather than a free pass.

Is 3d2n in Kyoto sufficient or 2d1n is better?

At least two nights are recommended, even if you have only a small interest in the history and culture of Kyoto.
