JR pass yes or no 2010/5/1 15:36
Acctualy the question is: JR pass YES or NO
I have to make 2 large disst: Tokyo-Beppu,
Beppu-Nara, and several short rides around ans inside Tokyo, Nara-Kyoto etc. In two weeks.
The cheapest JR is about 500$. Hyperdia gives me almost the same, by summ .
Am I right?

Yes, if you wish to travel by train, the 14-day Japan Rail Pass will pay off. You could also consider flying from Tokyo to Beppu (Oita Airport or even Fukuoka Airport in combination with bus, since air fares to Fukuoka are particularly competitive) and to take the ferry from Beppu to Osaka (near Nara). If you can get a cheap air fare, it could be cheaper overall. (Or also fly Oita-Osaka)
