Can use JR Pass from Tokyo to Sapporo? 2010/6/7 18:02
Hi,
We're planning to use JR East pass to tour Niigata, Aomori, Hachinohe and from there move on to Hakodate and tour Hokkaido using the JR Hokkaido pass. Is this doable?

The JR East Pass covers travel up to Nakaoguni Station, which is located just before the Seikan Tunnel, which connects Honshu with Hokkaido. Travel beyond Nakaoguni is covered by the Hokkaido Rail Pass. So, if you are able to get your two passes to be valid on the day when you travel from Honshu to Hokkaido, it should be fully covered. Note, however, that there are not many places outside of Hokkaido where you can activate your Hokkaido Rail Pass:

Is this doable?

If you have enough time allocated and worked out your passes correctly, yes.
