Where to buy JR rail pass? 2010/6/9 03:43
Hi, I'm looking to buy a JR 7 day rail pass for my trip to Japan this month - I have found two websites to purchase from and just wanted to ask if people have used them before/if they are safe?
The websites are:
http://www.jrpass.com/
http://www.japantravel.co.uk/RailPass/RailPassDefault.aspx

The first website seems to be cheaper than the second and doesn't charge postage but I couldnt find any specific reviews on the website so any help would be appreciated - thank you :)

I have not used the internet sources, but you can check JR's site for all sales locations (in case there is one convenient to you).
http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en005.html. Then you do not have to pay for shipping.

Do check the current currency conversion to see if the internet sources are not marking the price up too much.

ordered 2 14 day tickets last Thursday morning, arrived by post Friday Morning. Was a bit worried cos my name is sri lankan and very long, fortunately the name was printed so no spelling mistakes :) Don't know about other agencies, tries HIS but they are more expensive.

Flying into tokyo this friday and grabbing a connecting flight to Fukuoka. Have some plans to visit some ryokan/onsen. Does anyone know if you can visit the spaceport south of kyushu island?

I have bought from www.jrpass.com before! They are a good price, fast and I had no problems.

At the bottom of their page it says that they work direct with Kintetsu so they're legit I think!

" We work directly with Kintetsu to provide the best value Japan Rail Passes. "
