10 days in Japan 2010/8/2 19:14
a group of us (3 ladies & 2 guys) intends to travel Japn from 17th September to 27th September.

D1(17 Sept) ETA 0735 Narita - check in hotel
Travel to Nikko (day trip)

D2 (18 Sept) to D8 (25 Sept) intend to visit Shikoku; Shirakawa-go; Tateyama-Kurobe Alphine Route; Nagano.

D9 & D10 (26 & 27 Sept) Convention.

D11 28 Sept - Return home.

Your advice on the trip is much appreciated and is it better to travel by train or should we rent a car to travel out of Tokyo.

U have only 8 days to sightsee. Shirakawa-go, Tateyama alpine route are in Chubu (central Honshu island) whilst Shikoku is another island quite far away. In my opinion, it is not worth cramping sights in these 2 islands on such a short period.

Check out the sightseeing guide section of this website. Gives u access details on how to get to Shirakawa-go and the alpine route. Nearby places like Takayama, Kanazawa, Toyama, Matsumoto, Kamikochi, Nagano (all in Chubu) are worth visiting and would easily take up the 8 days for sightseeing.

Miyajima in Shikoku 2010/8/3 15:50
You guys should visit Miyajima. There are temple on the beach and very very beautiful. also you can taste the old small cute city of japan there.
