Autumn leaves in Tokyo or nearby

We would like to visit Tokyo and near sites (e.g. Hakone, Fujisa, Karuizawa) in this coming Oct/Nov.
When is the best time to see autumn leaves?

The Japanese maples often don't hit their peak until December in Tokyo, so maybe high up on Hakone might be ok in November.
