Hakone in 1 or 2 days? 2010/8/20 01:20
I'm planning to visit Hakone in October and have got couple of questions to ask:
1. Would 2 or 3 day(s) be enough for a visit the attractions? I'm thinking of getting the 2 or 3-day Hakone Free Pass.
2. Any recommended location/accomodation to stay for travelling around Hakone?
3. What is the duration of a round trip around Hakone?

Thanks :)

Yes! Many people even do it in a one day trip.

What is the duration of a round trip around Hakone?

The "classic circuit" can be done in half a day if not stopping at a lot of sights along the way. A full day or more if you stop at sights along the way.

As for accommodation, it would be easier to recommend something if we knew a bit about your preferences. What's your budget? Are you fine with staying in a Japanese style ryokan, or would you prefer a Western hotel, etc.

Thanks Uji and Sarah. My budget for accomodation is around 7000-10000yen per night for two people. I'm hoping to stay in a ryokan, with private bathroom, ideally with private hot spring facilities too. Any idea if Tonosawa Quatre-Saisons or Asinoko Ichinoyu is good? Which location is good as a base to travel around Hakone?

Thanks :)
