From Sydney to Gifu 2010/9/16 11:01
Hi all, I will be leaving Sydney mostly likely on the 27/28th Nov in order to reach Gifu station by the 29th Nov at 1130am (Having an appointment there).

I was wondering what would be my best options in doing so. I dont mind spending a day/ night in Tokyo or Narita Airport or Nagoya, just need to reach Gifu Station by 1130am on 29th Nov.

So far I have a few options and was hoping if anyone have any advice or better route to suggest that I can take.

Opt 1

SYD - Narita Airport - Nagoya (1 Night here) - Gifu

Opt 2

SYD - Narita Airport (1 Night here) - Gifu

Opt 3

SYD - Nagoya Airport - Nagoya (1 Night) - Gifu

Opt 4

SYD - Nagoya Airport - Gifu

I was also wondering about the traffic condition in the rail stations in the morning and are they really crowded? And what will be the best place to stay and for sightseeing for 1 day (Tokyo or Nagoya)?

Many thanks in advance! Domo Arigato!!!

thought of going via Kansai? 2010/9/16 12:12
Gooday! I'm on the Gold Coast, I've done the trip 3 times now. I far prefer arriving via Kansai to Narita. The airport is much smaller and easier to negotiate, and it is only an hour by train to Kyoto station, which is then only an hour or so to Nagoya by shinkansen. You also can get to Kansai by Jetstar, and if you pay the extra for starclass (which at $2K return isnt much more than JAL economy) you actually get treated like a human! The downside for you is that you wouldnt get to see Tokyo, though my preference is Kyoto anyway, so that isnt a downside for me.

Nagoya 2010/9/16 12:30
You can take the direct Airport Express train to Gifu from Chubu International Airport(Nagoya), but not at Kansai or Narita.

It's the most convenient for you to fly to Nagoya.

Option 4 2010/9/16 17:47
Hi

Yes, V is right. your best bet will be to fly directly to Centrair (Nagoya). There are direct Meitetsu line express trains from the airport to Meitetsu Shin Gifu Station.

Have fun in Gifu!
