Winter in Shin-hotaka, Okuhida

Read from some travel books that it is not uncommon that access to Shin-hotaka during the winter months of Nov to Apr are block due to heavy snow.
Have anyone met up with such situation before? Is it often?
Reason is the hotel that we booked at Shin-hotaka charges cancellation if we do not turn up. So we are a little concern.

I told you before that it is very rare. If it happens, hotels are generally understanding and will not ask for cancellation fees.

Of course, you should inform the hotel in case you are unable to get there because of snow and ask for a cancellation.
