planning to go from tokyo to kyoto, stay 4 nights in kyoto, and continue to osaka, please advise which shinkansen n how much the ticket, please suggest ryokan in kyoto, family of 5, 2 adults 3 children, thanks

U can use this web link to check trains (include shinkansen) from Tokyo to Kyoto : http://www.hyperdia.com/If u are travelling back to tokyo after yr trip to kyoto/osaka, consider getting the 7day JR rail pass. If it is just single way Tokyo to Kyoto, then it is not worth getting the rail pass.
