Nasu-Shiobara station, Waterfalls 2010/11/2 04:43
I am thinking about going up to this station in a couple weeks to see some Koyo (from Tokyo). How far from the station is Ryuka Falls? How much time is needed to enjoy this area? Can I do most of it in a few hours or do I need more? I wanted to cross the suspension bridge, and walk the pathways to view the waterfalls, mainly. Is there a website I can get some (English) information on this area?

There is a bus from Nasu-Shiobara Station to the "Ryuka-no-taki" bus stop. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes, and some buses depart from nearby Nishinasuno Station rather than from Nasu-Shiobara.

From the bus stop it is another 20 minute walk to the waterfall.

Thanks, Uji-san! Are the buses fairly regular each day? I'm trying to decide whether it is better to visit Nasu-Shiobara or visit Ryuokyo. If I'm planning to go late next week, will both place still have good autumn color on the trees?

Here is the timetable:
http://www.jrbuskanto.co.jp/bus_etc/cntimep01.cfm?pa=1&pb=1&pc=j036001...

那須塩原駅 is Nasu-Shiobara Station
西那須野 is Nishi-Nasuno
The stop for the waterfall is not listed, but I believe it is located between 塩原大網 and 視力センター前.

The timetable for the opposite direction:
http://www.jrbuskanto.co.jp/bus_etc/cntimep01.cfm?pa=1&pb=1&pc=j036001...

I don't know about the local autumn color situation.
