Kyoto Bus Fare Payment 2010/11/21 11:10
Hi Guys,
I would like a clarification about the bus fare payment upon exiting the bus. There will be 4 of us traveling together and if we are not using the 500yen City Bus 1-day Pass we will pay with cash for each bus ride. Now when the 4 of us are paying (at the same time) do we need to pay exact fare for each of can we lump the amount into 1 large amount for a single payment for 4? Example - A fare of 220yen per person:
1. Each of us have to drop exact 220yen payment, OR
2. Only 1 payment of 880yen (perhaps with 1 x 500yen coin, 3 x 100yen coin, 1 x 50yen & 3 x 10yen coins) dropped by 1 person in the group and indicating to the driver that it covers 4 passengers.
2nd option is easier but I want to know whether that is possible?

Thanks,
Mel

You can lump them together and let the driver know by saying something like "4 persons" or "yonin".
