Dear friends.. Is there any toilet in the shinkansen? Espescially tokaide shinkansen from Odawara station to Osaka.
Thanks...

Yes, on the Tokaido Shinkansen there are usually three choices (and it is marked in Japanese and English).
1. "Western Style" sit down toilets (also ones for handicap people) 2. "Japanese Style" toilets 3. Urinals for men.
"Usually" that is the case on the Tokaido Shinkansen.

no better than toilets on airplanes.
That is not true for the toilets on the newer train sets, which come with sensors to flush and lower the toilet ring, so that you don't have to touch anything. Some of the toilets are extremely spacious in order to accommodate wheelchair users.

The urinals are singles and have a nice glass panel to make it easy to see that they are occupied. This being a huge improvement on the toilets on some stations in the backblocks where folk needing to use a sit down or squat have to walk past the urinals to get there.....that is both sexes. One thing I quickly learned when travelling in Asia was to "get over it".

YES there are. MOre then that, considering my experience, you can be quite while using them - clean, modern, OK in general. The shinkanzen services are on high level all over.
ENJOY!
