We are using JR pass
2 adults 3 children

We will reach Tokyo on 15 Dec , very short time to do reservation for seat/carpet.

Anyone can help if i can book ahead and confirm the seat or carpet ?

My worry is no seat/ carpet on that day and it is on Friday 17 Dec

The current state of the carpet compartments is not shown anywhere on the internet, but the current vacancy state of the regular seats and B class berth suggests that the train is not overly busy on the 17th:

To JR should let foreign tourist to have better access to infos.
And at airports, a 24h counter to exchange for JR Pass.

It is difficult to make arrangement for hotel/plans without transport confirmations.

It is very complicated becos we have not idea at all when planing to visit beautiful Japan, the places, names, info and
by the time we confirm these are suitable places to visit,
we cannot get confirmation on train transport..

I agree. Their websites have a lot of potential for improvement. Especially a nationwide reservation system would be great.

And at airports, a 24h counter to exchange for JR Pass.

That would make no sense at all. Why keep a counter open during the night when there are neither trains nor planes?

JR Exchange counter opening time 2010/12/7 12:01
sorry, not 24hrs

My flight by Airasia touch down Haneda at 22:30

All exchange counter in all airports and Tokyo are closed..

In my case is , i planned to go Osaka U. Studio on the next morning but in this case all counter were closed, therefore i cannot get the JR Pass.
In case if i get the pass the next morning from Tokyo station opens at 7.30
- by the time i get the pass is ..... time?
- that is peak hour.
- by the time i reach to Osaka U. studio near noon
- we still have to keep buzy looking for platform in a unfamiliar place.

See i cannot bring my kids to a busy station with our luggage, doing exchange, wait for train without knowing the confirmed time.
It would be a tension holiday.

Another major problem is before i get the JR PASS,
i cannot do any reservation for seats,
which means all my plan to travel around Japan is still not proper at all.

these are part of the problems i face for this trip.

If you are so stressed out by those unknown factors, how about flying from Haneda to Osaka or Kobe the next morning, instead?

There are some cheap flights available. And you might be able to arrive earlier than when traveling by train.

As for luggage, if you travel with large pieces of luggage, you might want to consider luggage delivery services:
