Hakone, Mount Fuji & Onsen 2010/12/9 23:29
Hi

We have allocated a full day to Owakudani, Gotemba Premium Outlets, Mount Fuji and onsen around Fuji Five Lakes.

Planning to do onsen together with the magnificent views of Mount Fuji. How should the flow be? Owakudani followed by Gotemba Premium Outlets followed by onsen and Mount Fuji? Or onsen and Mount Fuji before Owakudani and Gotemba Premium Outlets?

Will the views of Mount Fuji be good enough from the onsen? Or where can we go for a good view of it?

We have shortlisted 3 onsen... Fujiyama Onsen (near Lake Kawaguchiko), Yurari (near Lake Saiko) and Benifuji no Yu (near Lake Yamanakako)... Which we have some advice on which to go to?

At least two days are required unless you have your own car.

Details also depend on where you start and end your day.

There are surprisingly few onsen with views of the mountain, which are accessible to daytrip travelers:

Fujiyama Onsen has no views of the mountain. Yurari is the nicer establishment than Benifuji, but the view of the mountain is a little bit more impressive from Benifuji than Yurari in my opinion. Benifuji is along the way between Kawaguchiko and Gotemba, but Yurari is in the opposite direction, a little bit difficult/time-consuming to access without a rental car.
