How to book one room for four people? 2011/2/6 01:19
Hi,

I notice that a lot of the Hotel can take up to maximum 3 lodger per room.
For ryokan/traditional hotel I understand its by per head.

In our home country we can have up to 4person staying in a room as the room rate is same regardless of occupants.

But in Japan, can I do that?
If I have 4 person staying in a "western hotel", is it appropriate for me to book just
1room with 2 double bed for 2person?
Or must I indicate exactly 4person?
Example, mitsui garden hotel.

That's right. But there are a small number of hotels with quadruple rooms, too.

Different countries, different customs...

No. You have to specify the number of occupants, and may not exceed the maximum number of occupants per room.

I recommend to book two double rooms or look for a hotel that can provide a quadruple room.

Not always. There are some Western style hotels that will charge by room. But even in case of these hotels, you will have to indicate the number of people staying and are not allowed to accommodate more people than room capacity allows.
