Fastest way from Kinkakuji to Kiyomizudera? 2012/1/5 02:20
Hi, I would like to ask about how to go to Kiyomizudera from Kinkakuji.
- by bus , or by train would be the best?
- I have JR pass, but I can't seem to find the station that is close to Kiyomizudera.

Can anyone help? Thank you

The fastest is by taxi (about 2500 yen).

There is no train connection.

By bus, one transfer is required along the way, and the journey takes about one hour. The two temples are located at opposite ends of the city:

The Japan Rail Pass will be of no use. Generally speaking, JR trains are not a convenient way to get around Kyoto, as explained in the second half of the following page:

Do you have any other plans on that day? In general it might be worthwhile to see some other temples in between the two due to the fact that they are located at opposite sides of the city. Depending on how much time you have you could travel from Kinkakuji to Ginkakuji and work your way south down the Philosopher's path etc.
Obviously this won't be the fastest way but it might be more efficient if you plan on seeing other temples too.

It really depends on how much time you have, what else you want to see, how much you are happy to walk, and what time of year you are travelling!

Enjoy your trip!

City-Busz Express service , with number 102 guide you directly from the Golden pavillion to Silver pavillion. Maybe every 12 minutes it go. Only in Daytimem.

Another chance of U is get in 204/205 heading east upto the Bus-Terminal of KITAOOJI. And reach their platform A with red sign. And get in 206 south down to HYAKUMANBEN and just walk heading east. walk or run.

Thank you for all, I guess I should adjust my plan.
If I start with Fushimi inari then use Keihan to Kiyomizedera.
If I want to go to Kinkakuji after that.
How long would it take from Kiyomizudera to Kinkakuji?
- Do I have to go back to Kyoto station before I go to Kinkakuji?
- Which bus should I use?

Thank you

How long would it take from Kiyomizudera to Kinkakuji?

About one hour by bus or about 20-30 minutes by taxi.

Do I have to go back to Kyoto station before I go to Kinkakuji?

No.

Which bus should I use?

202 or 206, then transfer to 204. See the link that I gave you in my first post for a bus map.

from Kiyomizudera to Kinkakuji
Quickest way is conbination of city-bus and sity-subway.

From the Bus stop of GOJO-ZAKA
use 100 / 206 or else heading north up to
Higashiyama-Sanjo-
and
ride subway heading west to KARASUMAOIKE
ride subway north to KITAO--JI
and ride bus from the blue platform.

By the way
I introduced you express 102.
Today I found it operates not so frequently.
Just on every 30min
You can make conbination of some with number 59.

59 operates 5 times an hour between KAWARAMACHI-IMADEGAWA and KINKAKUJI-MICHI.
