Can luggage be sent over the Shimanami Kaido?

We are travelling aounnd Japan and wish to do the Shimanami Kaido by cycle. As we will have our luggage with us we would like to be able to cycle from one end to the other in a day (not sure which direction yet) without it but arrange to get it sent to the end for us to collect and continue on with our travels. Is this possible?

I have not heard of such a service specifically for the Shimanami Kaido, but takuhaibin delivery services are available nationwide and deliver luggage to any place with an address on the next day. So, you could for example send your luggage from your hotel on the Hiroshima side to your next hotel on the Shikoku side or the other way around: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2278.html
