JR Pass or Hakone Free Pass? 2012/6/8 17:04
I am traveling in Japan and have a JR Green Pass and am trying to decide if it makes sense to buy a Hakone Free Pass for a 2-day stay in Hakone (at the Hyatt Regency). I plan to travel from Tokyo Shinjuku and want to take the Hakone Tozan Railway to Hakone, plus the Ropeway, and cruise on Lake Ashi. Should I buy the tickets individually in Hakone or should I buy the Hakone Free Pass and not worry about using my JR Pass from Shinjuku to Odawara?

The Hakone Free Pass will pay off for your schedule in Hakone. Since you have a Japan Rail Pass, you should use it to get as far as Odawara. There, you can buy the Hakone Free Pass version which does not include a round trip between Shinjuku and Hakone, but just 2 days of transportation within Hakone for for 3900 yen:
