Hello, I shall drive to Hakodate this summer on Thursday, 2 August 2012. Can I drive up to Mount Hakodate? Are the roads to Mount Hakodate closed to self-drive cars after 4:00 pm in the summer?

Hello.
I'm a person living in Hokkaido.
As mentioned earlier, the way to the top of Mt. Hakodate is closed after 17:00.
Driving a car to reach Mt. Hakodate is not a good idea. Don't forget that the parking lot at the foot of Mt. Hakodate is always very congested in every evening of July and August (even on weekdays). You will feel it very difficult to find an empty parking space there.
When you access to the mountain, go to the foot of the mountain by bus or tramcar.
