From Yamagata to Lake Tazawa

Dear all,

I am planing to travel around Tohoku area in late OCT.
I will arrive Tokyo and go to Yamagata directly.
My plan starts from Yamagata-Yamadera-Tazawako(lake Tazawa)-Hiraizumi-Narugo-Sendai-Matsushima-Sendai-Nikko-Tokyo.

My problem is that when i searched Hyperdia for the train route and schedule, they didn't show the route from Yamadera via Shinjo and arrive Tazawako. We had to go via Sendai.
But from i saw in the map here, http://www.japan-guide.com/list/e1102.html , there are yellow line that link between Yamadera and Tazawa and i think it should be faster.

Could anybody help me explain why they don't suggest this route? has Hyperdia not updated yet? or that route take more time?


In addition, i would like to know whether TOHOKU area & Nikko are safe from radiation or not? and can we eat seafood and other food?

Just simple answer local trains(not Shinkansen/no EXP and rapid) operate not a lot from Shinjo[VŻ] (via OMAGARI[‘ĺ‹Č]) to Tazawako stn.
(if also local trains only to Shinjo)

search again Hyperdia must option(SearchDetails) "Japan Railway(JR)" only, To "OMAGARI(AKITA)" and Pass1 "UZENCHITOSE".
after OMAGARI "Akita Shinkansen" faster.
