Trail advice for Fuji San 2012/7/25 17:56
Hi
I'll be staying in Fujikawaguchiko and would like to climb Fuji-san around the 28th of August.

I wonder if it's worth to take the Gotemba trail ?
and take a bus from Fujikawaguchiko to Gotemba and to the Gotemba 5th Station to start the climb, since there are less people (?) and nicer landscape (?) ,?

I do not mind the longer trail (Gotemba vs. Yoshida) and then climb down via the Yoshida Trail.

Are there a lot of bases from Fujikawaguchiko to Gotemba in the morning ?
do you have any advise ?

Thanks
Andi

Just made an overnight climb the other day, you can see it on my blog:

I took the Yoshida trail up. From my understanding, if you are making the overnight climb the Yoshida trail is good, since if you don't make it to the top you are still on the east side so you can still see the sunrise. Not sure about the Gotemba.

Sure it will be crowded (you can see it in the video) but honestly I think that was part of the experience. It's something you will probably only get to see in Japan!
