Sumo tournament in Tokyo in September 2012 2012/9/6 09:36
Hello,

We will be at Tokyo on 13/9/2012-17/9/2012 during the tournament. We wish to see a sumo match. Do you have a recommendation for a specific date? If it is possible to get a not too pricy ticket, it will be of great help too.

Thanks a lot!

I would try and queue up in the early morning of the Saturday to get one of the 2100 yen general admission tickets. They go on sale at 8am but queue up earlier.

If you can't get one of these either elect to pay for one of the Arena C seats (3600 yen) on that Saturday if they are still available, or try and queue up again on the Monday. If you miss out again on Monday morning just pay for whatever Arena seat is left.

I'd also keep an eye on the above vacancy page in case things look like they are filling up. In general I think early in the tournament, weekdays are fine.

Don't feel obliged to watch from 9am, most people will arrive around 2:30pm. Typical tournament day:

Enjoy the Sumo!
