Importing a laptop to Japan

Hey, I'm currently in Gifu and I was interested in buying a laptop from US. I'm from Sweden and there we have a 25% vat on things bought outside EU. (basically its expensive.)

So I was wondering, does Japan have any similar taxes? My google results give conflicting answers so I'm a bit confused.

Basically: If I import this to Japan, how much will I have to pay apart from the product itself and shipping?

I was looking this up the other day but can't find the page again. But I believe the import duty was something like 10% + a possible 5% consumption tax. I'll look again and update this post if I can find the correct information. Also see this page:

Sadly I can't read that level of Japanese yet, but that's why I'm here. :)

I figured it would be cheaper here since my country is known for its high taxes on everything. ;(

What laptop are you interested in buying?

I'm buying an high end laptop from MSI.

I managed to find a site that says that the tax is 5%. (Sales tax) the import tax for laptops is 0%, even in Sweden.

Overall I'd save 20% of the total price. Pretty crazy.
