Ibusuki

Hi, I will purchase the 5D Kyuushuu Rail Pass. For Ibusuki, I learnt that the onsen and the sand bath are in general located far from Ibusuki station. Is it worth a visit to merely go for a sand bath for half a day, travel to and fro from Kagoshima?

I personally would find the train ride and sand bath experience alone worthwhile. But I am sure it differs from person to person based on personal interests and the rest of the itinerary, e.g. if you have only very limited time in Japan, I would consider it a slight waste of time.

I enjoyed my sand bath in Beppu at the Takegawara Spa. I was on my way from Oita Airport to Uskuki and my itinerary did not include Ibusuki.....
