Suizenji-which of the 53 stations are known? 2012/10/11 20:26
In the article on Suizenji you say ''The garden reproduces the 53 post stations of the Tokaido''
ALL 53? With each end (so 55)?

The Mt Fuji is a very prominent feature of the garden. The lake is said to remind us of Lake Biwa, but the shape is only vaguely similar and the islands have no parallel in Biwa. What is it about the lake that is supposed to imitate Biwa?
I would be most interested if anyone has any ideas on what other features along the Tokaido are represented in the garden.
