Hi
I will visit Japan this summer (July 2-11). Since there will not be any sumo tournament in Tokyo I would like to visit a sumo stable in tokyo for the experience. Does anyone know whether the stables will be open that period? (Tournament in Nagoya?)
Thanks

The wrestlers will be in Nagoya for a big part of of July for the July tournament, which takes start on July 7. I believe that most of them leave for Nagoya already in late June, so I think you won't be able to visit the Tokyo stables in early July. It should be possible to visit some of the temporary stables in Nagoya, though.

That is a great idea! According to my itinerary I will be leaving Tokyo to Osaka on Sunday July 7th (which is the opening day for Nagoya tournament). So I could stop there for the sumo and in the evening I will continue for Osaka. Do you think it is possible? The biggest problem will be our luggage (2 large ones). Are there any lockers in Nagoya station? If so, can I make reservation of the lockers?
Thanks

Are there any lockers in Nagoya station?Yes, there are many there in various locations including an entire room full of them. If so, can I make reservation of the lockers? No. You could also ship your luggage ahead to your Osaka Hotel from Tokyo (the day before) if you wish.
