Kurobe Gorge koyo in late November 2012/10/29 13:42

I will be in Tokyo on 19th of November, and would like to visit the KUROBE GORGE . Would I be too late for the autumn leaves ?

It may be too late to go. The colors usually last until mid November but will have made their way down to the lower slopes by then. Also, you can only go about half way into the gorge as the trains only go as far as Sasadaira after Nov 15th.

yllwsmrf , again many thanks for your reply.

Looks like I have to pass the Kurobe Gorge this time.

Do you have any recommendation for nice Koyo viewing areas for late november ?

Kyoto will be in full swing around then. Tokyo and Kamakura should also be good around that time.

Sorry, I seem to have made a mistake looking at the time schedule. The trains do continue to Keyakidaira for the entire month of November. However, the koyo up there probably won't last to November 19th.
